Miss you

It's been awhile since anyone has posted and thought I would write a note to wish you a Happy Birthday Mom. I know its bright and beautiful in Heaven, but here is a little jack-o-lantern to keep you company and make you smile! I know how much you enjoyed getting all dressed up on Halloween. You are very much loved and missed! Love, Laurie

From Wendy

This was a great day it was on our annual girls shopping day, and it was a blizzard out all the stores were closing, but did that stop us, oh no! we were just laughing and plowing through snow to get to stores that were open this was a great day!
This has always been one of my favorites, look how cool she looks.
She was yelling at me about wanting a picture of me without a beer in my hand, so we put it in her hand.
This is one of my mom's favorites, Gram just jumped on top of us for this picture.

Hey Kathy remember this when we were kids

Remember one winter time when we were kids and Mom was hanging up Christmas cards in the living room. She was standing on top of Dad's big chair hanging up the cards when all of a sudden the chair and mom went down to the floor. You got so upset that mom hurt herself and I was laughing my head off. When Mom fell down she stood straight up on both her feet,it was so funny to see that. Kathy was so mad at me for laughing at mom.
All my love to you Mom...Brenda

DOOSIE HOWSER!!

Awww...Sean, you're the first man to blog for Gram! It reminded me of another story of her. Whenever she talked about you, she told me how you look soooo much like "Doosie Howser." I would say, "Gram, it's DooGie Howser." She'd say, "That's what I said. Doosie Howser. He's so handsome." Well, Sean, or Doosie, I personally think you are much better looking than Neil Patrick Harris! She loved you like you were one of her own grandchildren. Love ya Gram!

Grammy was a wonderful woman that I will never forget. When I first met Jessica I was nervous to meet her family. Grammy was always smiling and welcomed me into the family from the moment I met her. She was the type of person that from the moment you met her you were a friend. I feel like there is a lot that we can learn from how she lived her life. She showed that she loved her family dearly and would do anything to help them. We love you grammy and we miss you.

Hi everyone!
I still tear up thinking about this, but when we were down in Carolina at the hospital with gram dad and I went into the ICU to say hi to her when we first arrived. They would only let 2 people in to visit at a time. She was just saying how much she loves us and how she was so sorry to me because she was supposed to make my wedding cake, which was only days away. I kept telling her not to worry about it and that Sean and I just wanted her to get better. She just kept apologizing to me and then she said something that stuck with me even to this day. She said, "well, if I go before your wedding just know that I will be up there looking over you that day". I was ready to break down right there, but I knew I had to be strong. It was just a very comforting feeling knowing that Grammy was there with me on my big day. And I know that she still is. I love and miss you Gram.

How do you know?

Maybe if I tell another story, it'll get the ball rolling. Gram was down here visiting us several years ago and wanted to cook dinner for Chris and I. We went to the grocery store to get everything. Well, when we started to check out, I told Gram that I wanted to pay for everything. Of course, she argued with me. I was relentless in that I wanted to pay. I knew Gram was on a fixed income. We argued back and forth and I finally said, "Gram, you can't afford this. Let me get it." In true Gram form, she said, "How do you know what I can afford?? Now get out of my way! I'm paying!" There's no arguing with Gram. Guess who won?
Here's another one. I remember when we lived in Raymond and Gram lived next door to us (I had to be pretty young, but I remember this like it was yesterday) and we were washing dishes together. I admitted to her that I didn't completely dry the silverware before putting it away. When Gram told me that she didn't either, I remember being so excited that I did something just like Gram. I proceeded to tell her that I didn't completely rinse them either! She told me that she always rinsed them completely (which looking back I find hard to believe since everything was sooo fast paced with Gram!). I was so disappointed when she told me that! I thought for sure she didn't rinse them just like me! I of course always rinse everything over and over now. Thanks for the dishes lesson, Gram and I know, the dishes aren't done until they are dried and put away! I love you!

Just a few pictures

This picture is from Aunt Lyn. I just received it in the mail today. Grammy loved this picture.
These pictures were taken at Myrtle Beach a few weeks before she passed away. Grammy and I were both sitting on Christy's lap. Grammy got the biggest kick out of this.

I love this blog!! We all have at least a thousand stories to tell, so let's keep this thing rolling. She'd love it!

I too am not good at writing, so here goes. When Chris and I first met back in 1996 Gram was down here. She took one look at him and told me that he would be the guy that I'd marry. We all know that Gram had a sixth sense about things. I can hear her now saying, "I knew it. I just had a feeling. I get these feelings, ya know." God I miss her. Anyway, we went out to this honky tonk bar down here called the Long Branch. She had had a few of her whatever Russians that she liked and was feeling pretty good. I remember walking in to the bar and looking at the moon. She was telling me that if you could hang a pail on the moon, it wouldn't rain the next day. Well, Chris said that he needed to pee. Of course at my young 17 year old age I was horrified when Gram asked him if he needed some help! We had all JUST met him! Two kids later and who cares now, right? She also fell on the dance floor dancing with him and just laughed it off. She also slept in the same room with him! She was such an amazing person and we all need to thank God for allowing her to be the head of our family. She is always with us. I dream about her talking to me at least once a week. I hate waking from those dreams because they seem so real. I love you, Gram and will tell more stories of you soon.

Love,

Christy

Bees

I'm not good at writing either but anyways back in 2005 in the summertime,Mom and I was going to move my well from the front yard to the side of the yard.So we went outside and tryed to move the well when bee's started coming out of the well.Mom and I ran into the house and we went to the window where we could see the bee's coming out of the well.I said, Mom how can we get those bee's out of the well? she said, maybe if we could take a hose to them but she than said, that I don't know how we can do it from here.We thought again, than I said I'll get the hose,so I got the hose and we hooked it up in the house here,Mom opened the window and we blasted the bee's and than all of a sudden here come's some bee's after us coming in the window. Mom shut the window so fast.We were laughing so hard. You should of seen Mom laughing, the way she bends over and putting her hand's over her mouth, I thought she was going to pee her pant's.I said if anyone would of seen us doing this from a window they would think were nut's.Anyway Mom opened the window up again and I blasted them all that time.
I love you Mom and miss you soooo much.I think of you all the time and I look at your picture everyday. Hug's and kisses to you Mama xoxo

HEY KATHY!! Does this look familiar????

Well, I’m not much of a writer, but here goes! I just wanted to tell a little amusing story about Mom and her daughters. One night we decided to go out to the famous Silver Fox Lounge in Raymond, NH. Not sure how it came about, but I’m thinking it was just a whim and we decided to go out and have a drink and leave the kids with the men! Well the entertainment at the bar had this guy with an instrument on every part of his body that could move!! He was stomping and clapping and whistling and singing and banging and just about getting on everybody’s nerves!! (Altho, he did have the hots for Kathy *wink wink*). But, we were having a good time nevertheless!! Mom had her usual Black Russian or White never can remember which and she was feeling no pain. Well, Mr. One Man Band decided to dedicate a song to Mom and her 4 daughters and he proceeded to play, “Pardon me boys, is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo”. And our loving mother in her slightly intoxicated yankee voice yelled…..”I HATE THAT SONG; I’VE ALWAYS HATED THAT SONG!!!” I sure do wish I could sit and have that Black Russian with her one more time and reminisce about our crazy family. R.I.P. Mom, I love and miss you so much! Laurie

One of my favs...

Grammy with Tyler

This is Grammy with my son, Tyler. This picture is very special to me because it is the ONLY picture that I have of her with Tyler. Once I left mom's house that week and said goodbye to Grammy I realized that it was the only picture I had with her and Ty. I had such a bad feeling because I knew that I would be leaving for Guam and wouldn't see her for 3 years...little did I know that I would never have the opportunity to get a picture of her and Tyler again. I see this picture and it just helps me see how quick life goes by. If we don't have our camera in our hand then we just might forget the moment. I'm grateful for this reminder to pick up that camera more. I have now become like Grammy and am never without a camera!
